Miracle in the Desert
What's at the end of the rainbow? Desert decay and an abandoned pink shack... This rainbow brought beauty to an otherwise isolated and bleak land.

13,600 Feet Closer to the Stars
Located on the barren Mauna Kea volcano top are the twin domes of the two 10 meter telescopes that comprise the W. M. Keck Observatory (centered). The building on the left houses the Subaru Telescope (すばる望遠鏡), at 8.2 meters it's the premiere telescope of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. The silver dome on the right is NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility (NASA IRTF) with a 3-meter (9.8 ft) telescope optimized for use in infrared astronomy. All at 4,145 meters (13,600 ft) near the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii.

Imprisonment - Eastern State Penitentiary
Rows of prison cells line the halls of Easter State Penitentiary.
A place of remarkable urban decay, haunting light, textures, and perhaps a ghost or two.
Located in Philadelphia this prison was operational from 1829 until 1971. Today it's U.S. National Historic Landmark, open to the public as a museum.

Shoreline
The remnants of an old pier (must have been pretty skimpy) on the James at sunset. Note the moon above the pier, my favorite part of the image.
